Tip 1: Get an XML Sitemap!
April 27th, 2008 by No Doubt MarketingAlways, always, always set up an XML Sitemap. The process is simple and can really increase the visibility of all your pages to a search engine spider. Also, a sitemap can let a search engine like Google know when you update or add new content so they can spider your site again.
If you use Wordpress, you can find plug-ins to do this dynamically, such as the Google XML Sitemap plugin.
If you have a static site, or don’t want to use a plugin, there are many services that will spider your site and create an XML sitemap for you. I prefer to use this XML and HTML Sitemap generator.
After you create your XML sitemap, be sure to sign up for Google Webmaster tools and add the URL to your sitemap to make Google aware.
